Dr. Cynthia McNally, Board Certified Gynecologist on Menopause

If you missed her at the Vancouver Kiggins’ Theatre panel on Menopause in May 2025, Dr. Cynthia McNally is dropping by the chat for an encore!  Staci leads up this interview and gets into all the good stuff with Dr. McNally: comparing peri vs. post menopause symptoms, Dutch testing drawbacks, a breakdown of Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT), and supplement efficacy, anxiety, night sweats (and why she calls it being uncomfortably hot), anxiety, rage, the WHI study that started the HRT panic, testosterone replacement and methodologies, and caps it all off with a robust discussion of libido.  Given Staci’s history of breast cancer, they also discuss the intersection of breast cancer and HRT risks.  Basically all the physical changes in peri-and post menopause that might start off in the physical health sphere, pretty quickly cross into everything to do with your mental health, so we’re lucky to have her.  Welcome Dr. McNally!

About Dr. McNally:

Cynthia McNally, MD, is a board-certified gynecologist serving patients at Evergreen Women's Health, PC. in Vancouver, Washington. Born in Michigan, Dr. McNally moved with her family to Virginia when she was young and was raised in the suburbs of Washington, DC. After attending the University of Virginia for her undergraduate and medical degrees, she spent eight years as an OB-GYN serving active duty military members and their spouses in the US Air Force at the David Grant USAF Medical Center in Fairfield, California. Her time in the military sent her to California, Arizona, Idaho, and Japan. Idaho is where she fell in love with the Pacific Northwest. She is proud to be a veteran.

After the Air Force, Dr. McNally moved with her family to Vancouver, Washington, where she has lived since 2003. She spent 11 years as a practicing physician in Vancouver, much of that time delivering babies and performing general gynecology. In 2014, she chose to practice in Portland in order to focus on gynecology. She also really enjoyed being able to sleep through the night without getting called into the hospital! Tired of the commute, she decided to be her own boss and create a Women’s Health clinic in Clark County.

Dr. McNally is a strong believer in both preventative and complementary medicine. She feels it is important to listen to a woman and make her feel comfortable expressing any questions or concerns. She believes a woman will make the best health decisions when she is well-informed.

Dr. McNally is a trained surgeon and has expertise in all areas of gynecology, including but not limited to minimally-invasive surgery, long-term contraception, hormonal management of menopause and peri-menopause, polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), urinary incontinence, vaginal and vulvar issues, cervical dysplasia (abnormal paps), and sexual dysfunction.

In her free time, Dr. McNally enjoys spending time with her very energetic and entertaining teen daughter, as well as running, group fitness classes, skiing, and baking. An avid reader, if you bring a book to the clinic, she will likely ask you what it is about and whether you recommend it.
